Department Personnel Recognized for Years of Service

Today at the Board of Supervisors meeting County Staff were recognized for years of service with Botetourt County. The Department of Fire & EMS had several staff recognized. Lieutenant Camille Black was recognized for 10 years of service. Assistant Chief Wright Benefit Events

Assistant Chief Wright Continues to Recover

On the evening of Thursday, June 23, 2016, while participating in the rescue of a family stranded in their home by high waters, Eagle Rock Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Chief R. Alan Wright was critically injured. In an attempt to save the lives of others, Wright was pulled under the flood waters for a few minutes. Passing of Chief Jeffrey W. Beckner

It is with deep sadness that the department announce the passing of Chief Jeffrey W. Beckner. Beckner, has served as the Chief of the Department since September 2014 after serving more than 30 years in Roanoke City.

Words cannot express the magnitude of impacts that Chief Beckner had on the department, its membership, the community, and countless others.
